Common questions

Perch isn't taking the shot. Why?

With Smart capture on, Perch waits until a person is in frame and holding roughly still for about a second — walking, mid-rep movement, or stepping toward the phone won't trigger it. Settle into your pose and hold it. Also check that Perch has camera access in Settings → Perch, and that the lens has a clear view of you. If you'd rather have shots on a fixed rhythm, turn Smart capture off and Perch becomes an interval timer.

Where did my photos go?

Nothing lands in your photo library automatically. Shots stay inside their session in Perch until you review them and tap Save — then keepers (and only keepers) are added to Photos. Open a session from the home screen to finish reviewing it. Discards stay recoverable inside the session until you delete the session itself.

How do I restore my lifetime unlock on a new phone?

The unlock is a one-time App Store purchase tied to your Apple Account. Install Perch on the new device while signed in with the same Apple Account and the purchase restores through the App Store.

How do refunds work?

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds go through them: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select the Perch purchase. Apple applies its standard refund policy.

How do I delete my data?

Everything Perch stores lives on your device. Delete any session from the home screen (this permanently removes its files, including discards), or delete the app to remove everything at once. There's no account and no server-side data — nothing to request or erase anywhere else.

Why does Perch ask for microphone access?

Only for B-Roll video mode, to record clip audio. If you decline, clips simply record without sound. Photo capture never uses the microphone.

Privacy questions? Perch collects nothing — the privacy policy is one screen long.
